Body Length - Measured in a straight line from the highest point of the shoulder (at the collar join) down to the bottom hem opening, with the garment laid flat. This tells you how long the garment is from top to bottom.
Body Length Tolerance - The acceptable variance (± inches) from the stated Body Length measurement. Gildan typically lists this as ±1 inch across all sizes. This accounts for normal manufacturing variation between individual garments.
Chest Tolerance - The acceptable variance (± inches) from the stated Chest Width measurement. Like Body Length Tolerance, this is typically ±1 inch and reflects normal production variation at the chest seam.
Chest Width (Laid Flat) - Measured approximately 1 inch below the armhole point, straight across the garment from edge to edge, with the garment lying flat. Since this is a flat measurement, the actual wearing circumference is double this number — so a 20" chest width equals roughly a 40" chest circumference when worn.
Sleeve Length (From Center Back) - Measured from the center back (at the collar/neck seam) to the sleeve opening, following the top of the sleeve across the shoulder seam. This is the standard method used across the industry for long-sleeve garments and hoodies.
Sleeve Tolerance - The acceptable variance (± inches) from the stated Sleeve Length measurement. Typically listed as ±1 inch across all sizes, consistent with the other tolerance fields.
